Marvin Tate presents
Kitchen Songs
Kitchen Songs
Poet and vocalist Marvin Tate will be joined by longtime collaborators Matt Lux, from the band, “Isotope and Iron and Wine” (upright bass) and Dan Bitney,”Tortoise” (electronics). The three first met in the mid-nineties while playing in the Funk-fused band,” Uptighty” and would collaborate again as members of the short-live bands “The Now-Latuhs and Baby Alright.” Tonight, Tate will perform songs written and inspired while in his kitchen making art, cleaning or cooking. He’ll also be assembling ideas for a future one-man show called, “kitchen Songs”.
Zo//Ra
Zo//Ra is a Chicago based Afro-Surreal sound, visual & movement duo--bending altered states of thought through prose & chants & meditative moans.
Liz Gomez
Liz Gomez
Liz Gomez is a multidisciplinary afro-latinx creative currently based in Chicago, IL. Her performance work utilizes movement, poetry, and costume in its most raw and unapologetic form, with content centered around authentic story-telling and spiritual healing. Her work screams and bleeds ugly when told to be quiet, it is a protest, a declaration and call for positive change. Gomez defies definition and uses her work to celebrate freedom, fearlessness and the endless depths of the spirit.
Deluge
Deluge
A contemporary soul trio from Chicago, Deluge unites the musical inclinations of drummer Kevin Brown, guitarist Justin LaForte and bassist Jake Saleh toward breakbeat jazz, instrumental hip-hop and melodic funk, delivering uniquely textured and dynamic songs that actively defy convention. Having performed together in various iterations since 2009, the group's latest project reveals their shared influences from distinctive corners of the expressive music world, fusing a wide range of subversive genres to create a vibrant and visceral sound.
