Tragic Trip
Tragic Trip
A six-piece indie rock band with elements of soft-tinged Americana and country, Tragic Trip (fka Teenage Rage) combines the musically traditional with the unexpected. Songwriter Will Hulseman's honest and poignant lyrics serve as a unifying point above the band's sprawling instrumentals, creating a soundscape that feels like a story. The group, which consists of members from other Chicago acts like The Curls, Coleslaw, Tobacco City, and Speed Babes, will be releasing a full-length album in late 2018.

Ty Maxon is a songwriter and guitarist currently residing in Chicago. He has been featured on NPR's The Morning Shift as well as Daytrotter, who named Maxon's "I Will Die Tonight" one of the best songs of the year. Maxon's long-in-the-works new album "Rooms within Rooms" is due to be released later this year.

Last year’s Calling of the Crows—whose stripped-down instrumentation and backwoods, swampy folk give it moments of bare darkness—opens with its best track, so that I was sold right away. “To Theoda” is a frail yarn, with Ryan Suzuka’s harmonica weaving through guitar and banjo, and Maxon commands it totally, not only with his beautiful guitar melody but also with the way he holds on to his notes when he sings—it’s as though he’s trying to get you to gently cock your head and listen in.
